Learnr Research Cambridge is an interdisciplinary research center dedicated to innovating and advancing the state of the art in Learning Technologies. Founded by Open Source Champions and leading Researchers and Technologists, Learnr Research builds bridges between pedagogy/educationalists, teachers, students, learners, academia and industry, and builds the building blocks for the digital fabric that empowers new and innovative ways of Learning. Inspired by the Open Source principle, Learnr Research is both a platform and a federadtion, an umbrella for integrating and connecting different learning experiences and approaches via a unifying vision and platforms.
Learnr Research Cambridge has been launched at the end of 2015 by Roland Burger, Armin Ronacher and Daniel Lomrana in order to foster the uptake of advanced Learning/Educational Open Source Technologies. One of the first projects of Learnr Research is weLearners.org and is the result of an intensive 3-days Aalto Camp for Societal Innovation, that took place in Espoo-Finland, during June 2015. It is conceived as a rapid prototype, this is the first phase of it. So stay tuned for further developments, around the topic of Learning for Smart Citizens and a focus on Migrants Learning in Europe.
A more philosophical-technical definition is that of a Quantum Learning Space. As in Quantum Theory the Observer influences the observed. We think the same applies to Learning. Therefore we aim for a new kind of Learning, that happens in a Quantum Learning Space (QLS).
The core idea of Learnr Research is that we are currently witnessing a new Chapter in the Digital Revolution timeline. This will change Learning as we know it, and Learnr Research is building components to harness this development.
